Sarnia-Lambton's MPP is reflecting on a positive 2022 for the riding, and is hoping to see further developments locally in the new year.
Bob Bailey said provincial funding was secured for a very important local project.
"We secured, finally, over $12 million for the withdrawal management facility," said Bailey. "I know it was a long time promise, but it was finally delivered. The fall economic statement that was issued in late November talked about building the economy, building more housing and strengthening health care and education."
Bailey is also looking forward to the much-needed widening of Highway 40, from Indian Road to just north of Wellington Street.
A preliminary design and Class Environment Assessment (EA) Study was initiated earlier this year. The $2.65 million dollar study was expected to take about two years to complete.
There are also planned investments to long-term care homes, including new beds at Sumac Lodge, and construction of the Diageo whiskey distillery in St. Clair Township.
"Almost $250 million was committed to build the distillery," said Bailey. "I think that's a little different type of industry, a new type of industry. I'm very happy to see it come to Sarnia-Lambton."
