Sting bounce back for road win over Firebirds

The Sarnia Sting bounced back from a one-goal home loss with a 6-3 win over the Flint Firebirds on Saturday.

Easton Wainwright scored 48 seconds into the game and the Sting led the Firebirds 4-0 halfway through the first period.

Nolan Burke scored two goals and Zach Filak had one as the Sting built their 4-0 lead. Nolan Dillingham and Cooper Way added goals in the second and third period.

 

 

The Sting (14-9-4-2) are fourth in the West Division and sixth in the Western Conference. They’re one point behind the Firebirds (16-10-2-1).

Goalie Nick Surzycia made 30 saves during Saturday's game against the Firebirds.

Marko Sikic had three assists and OHL scoring leader Ty Voit and Sandis Vilmanis each had two assists.

The Sting will host the Peterborough Petes at 2:05 p.m. Sunday at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

Fans are being encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to the game as a donation for the Inn of the Good Shepherd.

There will be Christmas face painting and pictures with Santa on the south end of the concourse located at the top of section 101.

The Sting will be wearing Santa themed jerseys. Select Sting jerseys will be auctioned off on-ice following the game, with proceeds benefitting the Inn of the Good Shepherd.
