Sarnia seeking members for committees, boards

With a new term of council underway, The City of Sarnia is seeking residents interested in joining one of 16 boards and committees.

Communications Manager Steve Henschel said it's your chance to make your voice heard.

"These committees, in some way, shape or form, either advise council or make their own decisions," said Henschel. "So, it's an opportunity to kind of leave your mark on the future of the city, especially if you're passionate about what one of these committees does or the topics that they cover. It's a chance for you to express that passion and contribute to the decision making process."

Henschel said on January 12 the applicants will be submitted to council who will provide staff with direction to make appointments.

"Some committees do have certain requirements," he said. "Certain ones require you to be an eligible elector in the city, other require certain lived experiences. It varies from committee to committee but there are certain requirements for some, others are just open to anyone willing to serve. Some committees even have youth representatives, so we're encouraging those aged 14 and up to get involved as well."

Committees and boards seeking members include:

- Bluewater Trails Committee

- Bright’s Grove Library Committee

- Committee of Adjustment (4-year term)
