Windsor man arrested following February shooting

Sarnia police have arrested a suspect from Windsor connected to a shooting in February on Kathleen Avenue.

Officers were called to the area of Kathleen Avenue and Walnut Avenue just before midnight on February 23, regarding a confrontation between two parties.

According to police, the drivers of two vehicles chased each other through the neighbourhood, before the passenger of one of the vehicles fired several rounds at the people in the other vehicle. The victims continued to follow the suspect vehicle and were able to corner it, at which time more shots were fired at them.

The suspect vehicle fled the area and police said no one was injured during the incident.

As a result of an extensive investigation by the Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch, a suspect was identified.

The accused, Mack’al Larenz Blythe, 22, of Windsor, was arrested on December 1 with help from Canada Border Services Agency and is facing the following charges:

1) Two counts of discharging a firearm with intent

2) Two counts of assault with a weapon

3) Two counts of pointing a firearm

4) Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose

5) Unauthorized possession of a firearm

6) Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm

7) Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm

8) Two counts of failing to comply with a release order

The accused was being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
