Weekend fundraisers held for Operation Christmas Tree

Families in St. Clair Township who are hoping to receive a food hamper and toy vouchers have until 3 p.m. Friday to register for Operation Christmas Tree.

The annual holiday initiative supports over 125 families in Ward 1 of St. Clair Township, which includes Corunna, Mooretown, Courtright, and Brigden.

Registration for the program, coordinated by the Optimist Club of Moore, can be done at Operation Christmas Tree's headquarters, at the Emergency Services building, at 392 Lyndoch St. in Corunna.

For those willing to donate toward the cause, non-perishable items and unwrapped toys can be dropped off at the headquarters until December 16. Donations will be accepted Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Alternatively, an OPP donation drive-thru will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Lyndoch building.

The Knights of Columbus will also host a breakfast fundraiser on Sunday at St. Joseph's Parish Hall in Corunna. The dine-in or take-out style fundraiser will be held from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. Patrons can call (519) 862-5785 to place an order.

E-transfer and cheque donations can also be made to Operation Christmas Tree until December 16. Details on how to send monetary donations can be found on their website.
