The United Way of Sarnia-Lambton hopes Giving Tuesday will prompt residents to contribute to its annual fundraising campaign.
Executive Director Dave Brown said $850,000 has been raised so far, which represents 51 per cent of the $1.65 million needs target.
Brown said they have wrapped up most of the community campaigns. About 125 frozen meals were recently sold and will be picked up from the Dante Club on Tuesday.
With the campaign now in its 11th week, Brown said they're still "quite a bit behind" last year's pace.
"We are starting to get more and more concerned. We do have a lot of campaigns wrapping up this week," he said. "In fact, the match deadline for NOVA and ARLANXEO employees and retirees is Wednesday so certainly we would urge any of those folks to get their donations in quick."
The United Way's campaign wraps up at the end of December.
To date, there have been 1,725 donors.
The organization funds several local agencies that provide over 31 programs and services that include a warming station on Walpole Island, Meals on Wheels, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sarnia-Lambton.
