Salvation Army kicks off annual Red Kettle campaign

You may notice red kettles popping up at various locations across Sarnia-Lambton over the next month.

The Salvation Army's annual Red Kettle campaign gets underway November 17, and lasts until Christmas Eve.

Lieutenant Brad Webster said last year's initiative was a success, generating over $170,000.

They're hoping to bring in at least $160,000 this time around.

He said all of the money stays in the community.

"I just want to say 'thank you' to our community," said Webster. "We receive a lot of support throughout the year. I know those clients that come in share their stories with us and are thankful for that support. We ask that, if you're able to, when you see a kettle out there drop anything into it. That goes a long way for support."

Webster said they're also in need of volunteers to stand at the kettles.

In Sarnia, they'll be stationed at Superstore, Walmart, Metro, Lambton Mall and Canadian Tire.

Those interested in helping out can call the Salvation Army office at 519-344-1142.
