The Sarnia Sting lost 4-3 to the Saginaw Spirit on Friday night.
The Saginaw Spirit scored twice late in the third period to pull off a win at Progressive Auto Sales Arena in Sarnia.
"It's disappointing," said Head Coach Alan Letang. “I thought we deserved the two points. We played well at times."
The Sting, who are 8-6-2-1, dropped their second in a row and fell two points behind the second-place Spirit (10-6-1-0) in the Ontario Hockey League’s West Division.
Sandis Vilmanis of the Sting forced overtime by scoring with 10.1 seconds left in the third period.
Ethan Ritchie had the other two goals for the Sting, who led 2-1 with under seven minutes left.
“We’ve got some learning to do still on how to win and what it takes to win,” he said. “We needed a blocked shot here or a blocked shot there. Maybe we need a goal that goes off someone’s back or someone’s face or someone’s head, but you’ve got to be willing to go to those areas and do those things to get wins.”
OHL goals leader Nolan Burke of the Sting served the final game of his two-game suspension. He returns Sunday when the Sting travel to Guelph to visit the Storm - coverage on CHOK (1070AM/103.9FM) begins at 3:30 p.m.
