Several local politicians sat in on their final Lambton County council meeting Wednesday morning.
Warden Kevin Marriott offered his farewell to staff and councillors.
"I would like to extend a sincere thank you to all members of council for your dedication and hard work over the course of the last four years," said Marriott. "To those who are departing, thank you so much for serving. You have made a lasting impact on your own communities and the county as a whole. Your efforts are very much appreciated by all."
Lambton Shores Mayor Bill Weber, Plympton-Wyoming Mayor Lonny Napper and St. Clair Township Mayor Steve Arnold did not run in the recent municipal election, and Warwick Township Mayor Jackie Rombouts was defeated by Todd Case.
City/County Councillors Mike Stark and Margaret Bird were not re-elected and CAO Ron Van Horne is retiring in February 2023.
"To Mr. Van Horne, on behalf of the entire council, I would like to wish you the best in your retirement," said Marriott. "Thank you for your dedicated years of service with the county. Your guidance and leadership have had a lasting impact on our community and you should be incredibly proud of all that you have accomplished."
The new term begins on November 15.
