Four Lambton County mayors acclaimed

Four municipalities have seen their mayors acclaimed for the 2022 municipal election

Across Ontario, candidates running unopposed in October were acclaimed on Monday afternoon.

In the village of Point Edward, Mayor Bev Hand was acclaimed for the second time. She said she's happy she will be able to continue working to help the community bounce back from the pandemic.

"I very much appreciate this outcome," said Hand. "It was stressful getting there but it allows me to know that I get to carry on, and there's so much work going on, and we've lost so much during the two years of the pandemic."

She said she is glad to know she will be around to see some anticipated projects come to fruition.

"For example, getting the closure on the sale at Holmes Foundry was fabulous, but I'm glad I get to stay on to continue to work towards the end result with the developer, and there's some more things that are in the works I get to be involved with."

Oil Springs Mayor Ian Veen, Dawn-Euphemia Mayor Alan Broad and Enniskillen Township Mayor Kevin Marriott were also acclaimed.

Voters head to the polls on October 24.
