Alleged drunk driver hits parked car

A 23-year-old Sarnia man, who was refused service at a local Beer Store, is now facing impaired driving charges following a crash.

Sarnia police said the driver was turned away at the Beer Store on Confederation Street on Saturday because of his state of sobriety, and a store employee contacted police.

The driver travelled westbound on Confederation Street and was allegedly swerving within the vehicle's lane. As the vehicle began to pull over for police, it rear-ended a parked vehicle and caused "extensive damage" to both cars. Police said no injuries were reported.

The driver submitted a breath test which found he had three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

He was charged with one count of impaired operation of a conveyance and one count of operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol concentration that was equal to or exceeding 80 milligram of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood.

The accused will have to answer to the charges in a Sarnia courtroom on September 26.
