Paramedics in Nicaragua are making good use of a pair of ambulances that were donated to the country by Lambton EMS earlier this year.
Volunteer fire departments in Managua and Esteli are thankful for the donation that happened back in late May.
Lambton County EMS Deputy Chief Jeff Brooks said it allows those departments to elevate their response and standard of care.
"We're fortunate in Canada that we have the healthcare system that we do," said Brooks. "Not every country has the benefit of having the system that we have. It was really rewarding for us and worthwhile to send them to a place where they can continue on with their life to help people in need."
Brooks said the vehicles are still in great shape but have passed their life cycle in Canada.

GlobalMedic had the vehicles towed to Niagara Falls, New York State, where a C-5 U.S. Military cargo plane was waiting.
Sarnia-based Preferred Towing delivered the ambulances across the border, and the free C-5 cargo space was generously donated and organized by the Denton Humanitarian Assistance Program.
Lambton EMS also donated an ambulance to the town of El Viejo, Nicaragua in 2019.
