Germain Park consultations to 'pop-up'

Public consultations are underway to see what improvements can be made to a popular park in Sarnia.

Monteith Brown Planning Consultants are leading the city's Germain Park Master Plan.

"It's one of our largest, most utilized parks within the City of Sarnia," said Interim Manager of Park and Facility Operations Krissy Glavin. "It's just an opportunity to take a big-picture look at the entire park space and all of its amenities.

Some of the sought-after feedback includes what attracts people to the park, how often residents visit, and what improvements can be made.

An online survey is available and will remain open until August 21.

Pop-up consultations will also take place at Germain Park in August.

*The first pop-up meeting was scheduled to be held on August 3 but the city rescheduled it due to a severe thunderstorm that was issued for Sarnia-Lambton. The pop-up was pushed to August 17 at 6 p.m.

A second pop-up consultation at the park is scheduled for August 20 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.

"There will be additional, most likely some stakeholder meetings along the way as well, for very specific users of Germain Park so there's certainly plenty of opportunities for consultations to help guide [Monteith Brown] through this process," Glavin said.

It's hoped findings will be presented to council in the new year but Glavin said there's no specific timeline at this point.
