Sarnia police catch break-in suspect

A 32-year-old Sarnia man is facing break-in related charges, after police responded to an alarm in the 100 block of Vidal Street North.

Officers responded to the business at around 5:40 a.m. Thursday.

Police said the suspect was still inside, wearing a wig. He allegedly ran from officers and kicked and shattered a glass door in the process.

An officer was able to grab hold of the accused, but the suspect struggled and fled after slipping out of his jacket.

Police eventually caught up to the suspect, arrested him and seized a quantity of alleged stolen cash and break and enter tools.

The suspect is facing the following charges:

1) Break and enter

2) Theft under $5,000

3) Disguise with intent

4) Resist Peace Officer

5) Possession of break and enter instruments

6) Mischief over $5,000

He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
