Household hazardous waste mobile depot coming to Sarnia

A mobile household hazardous waste collection event is being held in Sarnia this weekend.

Lambton County Public Works Manager Matt Deline said residents can bring their corrosive, toxic, reactive and flammable materials to be properly disposed of at no cost.

"These items should never be placed in a regular landfill or put out at curbside for pick up," said Deline. "They have the potential to injure workers and damage the environment."

Things like PCBs, commercial, industrial, radioactive wastes, tires, electronics and explosives will not be accepted.

The drive thru-style depot, in partnership with Clean Harbors, is scheduled for Saturday, June 18, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Lambton College parking lot.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, residents are being asked to do the following:

1. Package materials in disposable containers (i.e. cardboard boxes) as they will not be returned.

2. Place materials in the trunk or back of their vehicle to maximize distancing for event staff when collecting items.

3. Remain in their vehicle at all times, as event staff will be removing materials from their vehicle.
