Sting sign another member of 2022 draft class

The Sarnia Sting have added another player to the hockey club.

On Monday, the team announced the signing of defenceman Carson Campbell to an OHL standard player agreement.

The 16-year-old Campbellford, Ontario native was selected by the Sting in the third round of the 2022 draft, 60th overall. He spent the 2021-22 season with the Quinte Red Devils U16 AAA team, and had three goals and 11 assists through 26 games.

Last season, Campbell also gained some junior hockey experience as he tallied an assist through two games played with the Cobourg Cougars of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL).

Sting Director of Player Personnel Kyle Craner is pleased to welcome Campbell to the team.

"Carson is a pass first defenceman who we see excelling at moving the puck out of his own zone to the forwards in transition," said Craner. "He is also comfortable moving along the offensive blue line and plays a heads-up style. We look forward to seeing him progress in Sarnia."

Sting General Manager Dylan Seca is excited to have Campbell on board.

"Carson is a smooth skating defenceman who we believe can become an effective puck mover in the OHL. He’s an athletic kid with excellent hockey sense," said Seca. "We’re excited to have him sign his Standard Player Agreement with the hockey club and are happy to welcome Carson and the Campbell family to the Sting organization."

Campbell is the third member of the Sting's 2022 draft class to commit to the team.

The Sting also previously signed first round pick Porter Martone and third rounder Sean Doherty.
