Cyclone Aid helps stock shelves at local food bank

Over 3,000 pounds of non-perishable food items and over $1,000 has been collected for the Inn of the Good Shepherd through Cyclone Aid.

St. Patrick’s High School students and volunteers helped to host the 20th annual food drive in early April.

Teacher Martina Austin said 3,637 pounds of food was collected during the weekend event. She also said $110 was collected in cash donations within the school and $900 was raised through online and direct donations.

The annual food drive was done in a drop-off fashion again this year since students were not allowed to canvass door-to-door. Austin said in the past they’ve collected about 28,000 pounds of items for the local food bank.
