The Sarnia Sting are still clinging to a playoff spot following a 4-2 loss in Flint Sunday.
Sarnia's Nolan Burke and Marko Sikic scored in the loss and goaltender Ben Gaudreau allowed three goals on 35 shots.
The Firebirds were on the board first with a goal from Coulson Pitre at 12:53 of the opening frame. Dmitry Kuzmin scored at 18:43 to give Flint a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.
The Sting cut the lead in half under a minute in the middle frame when Burke scored his team-leading 34th goal of the season -- the Peterborough native has five goals and three assists over his past nine games. The Firebirds led 2-1 heading into the third period.
Flint restored its two-goal lead just 49 seconds into the third when Brennan Othmann slid home his 44th goal of the season. Sikic scored on the power play at 11:17, his 14th goal of the season, but that's as close as the Sting would get -- Ethan Keppen scored an empty net goal with 18 seconds on the clock to make the final score 4-2.
The Sting have three games remaining and are currently eighth in the OHL's Western Conference, just one point ahead of Erie -- the Otters also have a game in hand.
Sarnia is back in Flint on Tuesday before wrapping up their regular season on the weekend with games versus the Spirit and Knights -- all of the action can be heard on CHOK (1070 AM/103.9 FM).
