Minor flooding possible due to rainfall amounts

Conservation officials are monitoring watershed conditions as 15 to 25 millimetres of rain is expected by Thursday morning.

The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA) issued a water safety/ flood outlook statement on Wednesday, a day after Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for Sarnia-Lambton.

A low-pressure system is currently tracking through Ontario. The conservation authority said a risk of thunderstorms Wednesday evening could result in higher precipitation amounts in localized areas.

Minor flooding is possible in natural floodplain areas, parks, and fields. However, major flooding is not anticipated.

Residents are being reminded to avoid shorelines, watercourses, and flooded areas due to safety concerns.

The flood outlook will remain in effect until Friday.
