The Sarnia Sting scored seven unanswered third period goals in a 10-4 win over the visiting London Knights Sunday.
Max Namestnikov had three goals and three assists and Ty Voit had five points to help the Sting reach double digits for the second time this month.
The Knights opened the scoring at 8:23 of the first period before Sarnia's Nolan Dann tied things at ones at 9:42. London regained the lead at 11:29, but the Sting's Angus MacDonell tied the game back up in the final minute of the period, making it 2-2 heading to the second.
The Knights jumped back in front at 4:02 with a power play goal. Namestnikov scored his first of three at 11:40, Sarnia's lone goal of the middle frame. London went up 4-3 at 17:41 and led by a goal after 40 minutes of play.
Namestnikov tied the game again at 1:08 on a power play that carried over from the second period. The Sting kept pouring it on in the final 20 minutes with goals at 3:58, 6:20, 10:21, 12:42, 15:41 and 17:31 -- Voit (2), Namestnikov, Marko Sikic, Nolan Burke and Zach Filak were the goal scorers. Sarnia outshot London 19-4 in the third period, en route to the 10-4 win.
"We knew we had to capitalize on that power play coming into the third," said Voit. "After we got going there, we kind of just kept rolling with it, so that was a big part of our little comeback there."
The win improves Sarnia's record to 25-26-3-1 -- the club is eighth in the OHL's Western Conference with 54 points, four points clear of Erie.
"This was a big game coming in," said Voit. "We need these points, it's getting down to crunch time, so everybody knows how important these two points were."
Sting goaltender Ben Gaudreau made 24 saves in the win. Aiden Berry also made 24 saves in the Knights' net.
Sarnia is now 6-2-1-0 versus London this season.
