Sarnia police arrested a young offender Sunday evening, allegedly in possession of a replica handgun.
Officers responded to a call about a possible theft at about 6:15 p.m. at an apartment in the 800 block of Colborne Road. Police were told that one of the alleged suspects may have been in possession of some sort of handgun.
Officers surrounded the building, and at about 6:30 p.m. individuals matching the suspects description exited and started to cross the road. Police said the officers approached the individuals, asking them to stop, which they did.
It's alleged one of the suspects aggressively resisted officers while being placed under arrest.
During a search of the person and his property officers located a replica handgun, determined to be a pellet gun.
The 17-year-old is charged with resisting a peace officer, possession of weapons for a dangerous purpose, and failure to comply with an undertaking. The teen also had an outstanding warrant for uttering threats.
He was being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
