Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday

This weekend's time change may be the perfect opportunity for residents to hit the reset button and aim for healthier lifestyle habits.

Clocks will "spring forward" by one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday.

Lambton Public Health's Manager of Family Health Kevin Churchill said spring in general, especially after the last two years, is a good time to refresh or reset.

"I think our coping mechanisms that many of us have adopted over the last couple of years may not have been the healthiest ones and so I think it is good this year, more than ever, to have a look at how much sleep you're getting, how much water you're drinking, can you decrease your screen time?"

Churchill said similar to jet lag, it may take a couple of days to adjust to the time change. A good idea may be to go to bed an hour early this weekend ahead of Monday.

For those who aim to begin healthy changes, Churchill's advice is to allow time for habits to set in.

"Give yourself some time, take advantage of the better weather, to get outdoors, and get some healthy activity in."

Meantime, Sarnia fire officials are taking this time to remind residents to change smoke alarm batteries.
