UPDATE: Very cold wind chills expected

An extreme cold warning for part of Lambon County has ended.

Environment Canada issued an extreme cold warning on Friday for much of southern Ontario, including north and east Lambton.

The national weather agency said the low Friday night will dip to -19 C, -2 F, with wind chill values near -30 C, -22 F.

Meteorologist Steven Flisfeder said the city of Sarnia is not included in the warning.

"Areas a bit on the border, they're going to be slightly above our warning criteria," said Flisfeder. "It's still going to be very cold conditions for them at -15 C, to -17 C, and wind chills probably around -25 C, -13 F. So, they're definitely not spared but they're not at that cut off for the extreme cold warning criteria. At this point, it's not looking like they'll be added but I don't want to exclude the possibility altogether."

Lambton Public Health has also issued a cold alert for Sarnia-Lambton.

The warning ended on Saturday around 11 a.m. However, temperatures will still be below freezing.

Environment Canada's forecast for north and east Lambton calls for a low of -17 C, 1 F, and a wind chill of -24 C, -11 F. Temperatures are expected to rise to -14 C, 7 F, by Sunday morning.
