Provincial police have released the name of a man accused of killing two people in Lambton County late last month.
The incidents were discovered during the afternoon of December 28, 2021, by Lambton County OPP and Sarnia police after officers were contacted about a "suspicious" person seen in the area of Crooked Road in Enniskillen Township.
The following day, investigators told the public that human remains were discovered in the area which then led them to a home on Watson Street in Sarnia, where a second body was found.
On Sunday, OPP identified the victim located in Sarnia as 31-year-old Lance Richardson of Mississauga.
Late Thursday evening, investigators identified the accused as 42-year-old Matthew Theriault of Sarnia. He has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder along with two counts of committing indignity to a dead body.
Theriault remains in police custody.
Police say they have not yet been able to identify the victim located in Enniskillen Township. Investigators with the Office of the Chief Coroner continue to investigate that incident with assistance from the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services.
The OPP is still seeking information from the public about the incidents. Anyone who may have had contact with Lance Richardson prior to his death is also urged to call police.
