Lambton Public Health is giving those aged 70 and up another chance to get a third dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
A walk-in booster clinic for that age group is taking place at The Shores Recreation Centre in Forest on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The health unit said no appointments are needed, and the Moderna mRNA vaccine will be onsite.
Meanwhile, Lambton Public Health said they've been notified by the province that future orders of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine are temporarily delayed, causing the local Pfizer supply needs to be prioritized.
Beginning Tuesday, in stock vaccines will be distributed as follows:
– Residents aged 12-29 years old will receive the Pfizer vaccine as recommended by the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (while supplies last).
– Residents aged 30-plus will receive the Moderna vaccine.
This change will remain in effect until further notice.
Lambton Public Health officials said since Moderna and Pfizer mRNA vaccines are interchangeable for people aged 30 and older, there is no need to cancel or change your appointment if you have already had one or two doses of Pfizer.
The health unit also encourages anyone who is eligible for a third dose, but cannot book into one of their clinics, to seek their booster shot at one of several local pharmacies offering COVID-19 vaccines. A full list can be found here.
