Over $12.5 million will be invested in critical infrastructure projects across Sarnia-Lambton in 2022.
MPP Bob Bailey said the investment, double what was received through Ontario's Community Infrastructure Fund in 2021, will help build and repair roads, bridges, water and wastewater infrastructure.
"It supports our economic recovery for our province, but also Sarnia-Lambton, and it creates jobs as well," Bailey said. "In one municipality it might be a storm drain, in another municipality it could be a bridge or a road that's at a threat of being washed out. They can go ahead with the knowledge that they have this guaranteed funding."
The City of Sarnia receives just over $5.7 million, while St. Clair Township and the County of Lambton each get over $2.2 million.
Funding is also being allocated to Oil Springs, Point Edward, Enniskillen, Petrolia and Plympton-Wyoming.
Approximately $200 million was allocated to 424 Ontario communities in 2021.
The province said municipalities may accumulate funding for up to five years to address larger infrastructure projects.
