Parked OPP cruiser rear-ended on Hwy. 402

Lambton OPP are stressing the importance of slowing down and moving over for emergency vehicles stopped on the side of the road.

The message comes after a police cruiser, with its emergency lights activated, was rear-ended by a car on Highway 402 at around 2 a.m. December 5.

Police said no injuries were reported, and a 34-year-old from Oakville was charged with careless driving.

The OPP are reminding motorists of the requirement to slow down and move over for emergency vehicles (police, fire and ambulances) and tow trucks which have their emergency lights activated.

Drivers are required to slow down when approaching and, if safe to do so, move over into another lane.
