Trick-or-treaters will be able to leave their rain jackets at home this Halloween.
Environment Canada's forecast is calling for sun and cloud and seasonal temperatures in Sarnia this Sunday.
Severe Weather Meteorologist Brian Owsiak said after we get through some rain Friday and Saturday, it actually looks like decent weather for Halloween.
"We go through a dry period Saturday night through Sunday and probably into Sunday evening and near seasonal temperatures. So, that actually would be relatively pleasant for this time of year and not bad trick-or-treating weather compared to more recent Halloweens."
The weather agency is calling for a high of 13 C, 55 F Sunday afternoon and a low of 5 C, 41 F at night. Owsiak said things will start to cool down next week.
"So while we'll have near seasonal temperatures this weekend, including Halloween, it does turn cooler early next week and areas further north could even see some of the white stuff -- just a flurry here or there -- but not for Sarnia at this point."
Sarnia police Cst. Nelson Amaral said those handing out candy this year should make their home safe for trick-or-treaters and leave their outside lights on.
"Children should stay in known well-lit areas, and only visit homes that have their outside lights on," he said. "Children should never go inside homes or cars, and don't go anywhere with a stranger."
Cst. Amaral also reminds parents to ensure their children's costumes are lightweight, reflective and weather appropriate.
"For greater visibility, carry a flashlight and add retro-reflective tape to a costume," he said. "Sarnia police have a limited number of reflective wristbands available at our front foyer. They are free of charge and have been generously donated by several local businesses working in partnership with the Community Safety Network."
