The Sarnia-Lambton Chamber of Commerce has launched a new initiative aimed at encouraging support for local businesses and their employees.
CEO Allan Calvert said the "Spend it here. Keep it here. Support Sarnia-Lambton" campaign encourages shoppers to shop, eat and experience local businesses and attractions.
"Local businesses are still prodding along, but they continue to require the support of the local consumer to keep things going," said Calvert.
He said they've been awarded $70,000 from a $9 million partnership between the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and the Government of Canada to invest back into the community.
"There are incentives for shoppers, in terms of gift cards and Tourism Sarnia-Lambton bucks, which have been hugely successful and redeemable at some 300 businesses in Lambton county."
Calvert said business owners can register their promotions for advertising on the chamber website over the next three months, while shoppers can register their receipts for a chance to win TSL gift certificates and other prizes.
"When it comes to shopping local, this is not a time to hold back. This is now a time when we can truly show the community that we've got their back and will do everything we can to support all local businesses."
