Pair face assault charges in weekend stabbings

A man and a woman are facing assault charges after two people were stabbed in central Sarnia.

City police said it happened at around 3:20 p.m. Saturday in a parking lot in the 900 block of Colborne Road.

Police said a verbal confrontation escalated, and a man stabbed another several times with a knife. It's alleged the female suspect stabbed another man several times with what is believed to be a needle.

The suspects fled, but were arrested a short time later.

Police allege both suspects were uncooperative and confrontational while in custody. The male allegedly threw items at officers and spat on them while in his cell. Police said the female demonstrated similar behaviour by biting and spitting at officers.

The 37-year-old male, that was stabbed with the knife, was treated and released from hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The 35-year-old male that was stabbed by the needle was taken to hospital and later released.

Kevin Rene Racette, 31 of Sarnia, is charged with four counts of assaulting a peace officer, assault with a weapon, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Emily Danby Wasson, 22 of Sarnia, is charged with assaulting a peace officer, assault with a weapon, and failing to comply with a release order.
