Sarnia speeder arrested after trying to flee traffic stop

A 24-year-old Sarnia driver allegedly tried fleeing a police traffic stop after being told her vehicle was about to be impounded for speeding.

Lambton OPP said the accused was clocked at over 100 kilometres an hour in 60-zone on Lasalle Line near Marthaville Road outside Petrolia at around 8:10 a.m. Wednesday.

An officer initiated a traffic stop and informed the driver her vehicle was subject to mandatory impoundment.  The driver then attempted to flee but was unsuccessful, and was then taken into custody.

The accused is charged with racing a motor vehicle at an excessive speed and obstructing a peace officer.  She has been released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
