A couple of local projects are getting a boost under the Ontario government's Rural Economic Development (RED) Program.
The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership (SLEP) is getting $24,000 while the City of Sarnia receives $20,000.
SLEP's funding will support consultations with local farms and agriculture businesses, deliver workshops on business growth, and create six virtual farm tours featuring agricultural business topics.
The City of Sarnia funding will be used to implement a micro-website and customer relationship management platform to track business inquiries and improve investment attraction.
Sarnia-Lambton MPP Bob Bailey said the province is committing a total of $5 million in cost-share funding in this latest intake of the RED program.
"Rural communities like Sarnia-Lambton are the heart of Ontario. It’s critical that we continue to support the efforts of our agricultural sector," said MPP Bailey. "I value the role that Ontario’s RED program plays in providing cost-share funding to support activities that create strong rural communities in Ontario and opens doors to rural economic development."
A total of over 60 projects across Ontario are receiving RED funding to help diversify local economies, retain skilled workers and create jobs.
