A Sarnia firefighter is doing his part to help fight kids' cancer.
Fire Prevention Officer Roel Bus is doing the national Great Cycle Challenge, and is one of nearly 200 riders taking part locally.
He's ridden over 1,000 kilometres this month while fundraising about $1,800 in the process.
Bus said his fundraiser supports the SickKids Foundation in developing treatments, and hopefully a cure.
"I was talking to someone that also drives cancer patients back and forth to London, and he said he's been to the kids' ward and it's just awful to see that," said Bus. "I also got an email the other day that said that during the time we've been doing this, about a month now, 22 kids will have died. So, it's not just going out to ride in the sun, you definitely have that in the back of your mind, hoping to raise enough money to make this go away."
Over 1,400 children are diagnosed with cancer each year, making it the deadliest disease amongst children in Canada.

Bus has done the challenge each year for the past six years, and has helped raise over $9,000.
