A Sarnia golfer now has eight holes-in-one over his 70-plus years on the links.
Lynn Meyers, 83, recorded an ace on the 7th hole at Sarnia Golf & Curling Club on Monday. He sunk the shot from the blue tees, 147 yards away, using his 7-iron.
"I hit the ball perfect," said Meyers. "And the fella that I was playing with said 'that's going to be close,' and it was. We went up there and kind of looked around because you couldn't see the ball go in the hole because of the flare of the sand trap."
Meyers said he's hit two holes-in-one at Sarnia Golf, three at Indian Hills, and three at the course he plays in the winter time in Florida.
"It's something you don't even think about. It's just something that if it happens, it happens. I never even saved the ball on this hole-in-one. When I got my first one, I at least saved the ball and had it mounted, but this one I kept playing. I mean, when you get to eight, it really doesn't make much difference."

Meyers said as long as his health stays, there will be another ace down the road.
"As I look at it, it's a lot of luck because I've had a lot of balls around the hole, hit the hole, because I've been playing golf since 1949. My dad was the golf pro at Sarnia, so I grew up on that golf course," he said. "Since I retired, when I went to Florida, I was playing golf almost 10 months of the year, so I play a lot of golf."
On top of his eight holes-in-one, Meyers has also set five course records during his time on the golf course.
"I'll tell you one of the things that is more important to a lot of golfers [than a hole-in-one] is shooting your age. To shoot your age in golf is something. Last year I shot my age 100 per cent, and this year I haven't been higher than my age yet," he said. "But as I tell the guys that I play with 'you have to get old to do that.' And it gets easier as you get older, as long as you don't get hurt."
There have been nine holes-in-one at Sarnia Golf & Curling Club this year. The course said that's about normal for its members.
