A charity golf tournament will tee-up balls to raise walls for those in need.
Habitat for Humanity Sarnia-Lambton is hosting the inaugural Raising Walls Fore Habitat Classic August 13 at Kingswell Golf Club in Petrolia.
Habitat CEO David Waters said all the money raised will go directly to their build program.
"This was scheduled for 2020 and put off -- obviously because of what was going on -- but we feel like we can operate it safely and still have a fair bit of golfers on the course and make some money for our build program."
Waters said the organization is hoping to make the tournament an annual event.
He said they're hoping to raise as much money as possible with registration set at $125 per golfer.
"The tournament size is only 100 golfers as opposed to the normal 144 because of COVID rules, so that puts a little bit of a damper on the fundraising. But we've got two title sponsors in Lambton Lincoln and Watson Timber Mart, so that helps a lot."
Waters said in lieu of a dinner, golfers will get a voucher of $35 towards on-course purchases.
He said they'll have some nice prizes up for grabs too.
"We're going to have silent auction items around the putting green, we're going to have a putting and chipping contest, we're going to have standard long-drive for men and women and closest to the pin. We'll also have a Par 3 hole where if anyone gets a hole-in-one, they'll win $10,000."
Waters said the four-person scramble gets going at 1 p.m., and that the top three teams will walk home with some extra swag. He added that every cart will include some items to start the tournament.
