OPP gear up enforcement on cyclists, e-bikes

Lambton OPP have ramped up enforcement along the Point Edward waterfront following complaints of people nearly getting hit by e-bikes.

Police said there have been several issues on the pathway spanning from the Starlight Casino to the east end of Canatara Park.

They've received reports of cyclists travelling at high rates of speed and almost colliding with pedestrians.

Cyclists are being asked to respect others on the pathway by travelling at appropriate speeds, and using a bell when appropriate.

E-bikes are prohibited from using the pathway under Point Edward by-law, and violators will be handed a $50 fine.
