The head coach and general manager of the Sarnia Imperials football team is facing fraud-related charges dating back over six years.
Sarnia police Cst. John Sottosanti said they began their investigation in May of this year.
"Information was brought forward after an individual was made aware of their signature and name being used in regards to the club's financial account," said Sottosanti. "The matter was investigated by the Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch and, as a result, it was determined that various fraudulent activities did occur that dated back to 2014."
Jake Cherski, 53, of Sarnia is charged with fraud over $5,000, personation with intent to take advantage, making a forged document, and criminal breach of trust.
He is set to appear in Sarnia court on August 17.
