UPDATE: Thousands of hydro customers in Bright's Grove experience power outage

Approximately 3,000 customers in parts of Sarnia spent part of Monday night without electricity according to Bluewater Power.

Shortly before 9 p.m., Bluewater Power was alerted of an unplanned outage in parts of Bright's Grove and the north end of Sarnia.

It was later determined that a vehicle crash in the area of Lakeshore Road and Telfer Road resulted in a broken hydro pole.

Officials with Bluewater Power said major damage was caused to the pole which may take several hours to repair resulting in power outages for some customers through most of overnight and possibly into the early morning.

By 11 p.m., power was restored to most customers while crews continued to repair the lines. The utility had power fully restored by 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call police.
