Sarnia hospital reports COVID-related death of man in his 50s

Sarnia's hospital reported a COVID-related death involving a man in his early 50s Friday morning.

Bluewater Health Communications Chief Julia Oosterman said the patient was from Sarnia-Lambton, and that he passed away over the past 24 hours.

The local hospital has reported 51 COVID-related deaths over the course of the pandemic.  There is currently one COVID-positive patient in hospital, down one from Thursday.

Lambton Public Health reported one new case in its daily update, bringing the total to 3,621.

The health unit has reported 3,545 resolved cases, up three, and 62 COVID-related deaths, unchanged since June 15.

Active cases are at 14, down two over the past 24 hours, and active outbreaks are still at one.  The health unit reported an outbreak at Afton Park Place June 25.
