Weekly COVID rate down 70% in SL

Sarnia-Lambton's COVID case rate was down about 70 per cent last week compared to the week before.

Lambton Public Health reported an incidence rate of 9.2 per 100,000 population for the week of June 27 to July 3.  That's down from a rate of 30.5 the week of June 20 to 26.

The community's positivity rate also dropped during the same period, down from 1.97 per cent to 0.82 per cent.

The health unit reported three new cases and no new recoveries Wednesday.  Active cases are at 14, up three over the past 24 hours, and active outbreaks remain at one.

Over the course of the pandemic, there have been 3,617 confirmed cases, 3,541 resolved, and 62 COVID-related deaths.

Bluewater Health is reporting three COVID-positive patients in hospital, unchanged from Tuesday.
