A 17-year-old is charged with impaired driving, racing and flight from police after allegedly avoiding a RIDE check point at Kettle and Stony Point First Nation.

Anishinabek police said the suspect vehicle was seen making U-turn just prior to the checkpoint, before fleeing the area at a high rate of speed at around 9 p.m. Friday.

Officers located the vehicle and arrested the driver. The suspect was then taken for further testing and found to be impaired by drugs.

Police said the suspect was issued a 90 day driver's licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
