Funding extended for Huron Shores bus service

The mayor of Lambton Shores is thrilled funding has been extended for the Huron Shores Area Transit bus service.

The Ontario government has announced an additional $1,065,946 to operate the service from 2023 to 2025.

Bill Weber admits it hasn't been easy since the buses started running in December.

"With COVID, and the restrictions of how many passengers, it's been a real challenge to get ridership built up," said Weber. "But, as more people get vaccinated, we hope more people will find the bus service and be able to use it."

Fares range between $5 and $20, and children aged four and under can ride for free, providing an affordable transportation option.

"It starts out in Grand Bend, goes to Exeter and London. Another bus goes to Kettle Point and Forest and on to Sarnia, going to Lambton College."

The schedule, routes and map can be found here.
