New COVID cases staying low in SL

Sarnia-Lambton's health unit is reporting another small increase in new COVID cases.

Lambton Public Health reported one new case Thursday morning, marking the 24th time over the past 25 days new infections have been in single-digits.

Resolved cases are up three over the past 24 hours, dropping the active cases to 22.  Active outbreaks remain at one.

Over the course of the pandemic, there have been 3,553 total cases, including 62 deaths and 3,469 resolved cases.

Bluewater Health is reporting seven COVID-positive patients in hospital, up one from Wednesday.

As for vaccinations, Lambton Public Health has reached another milestone.

Over 100,000 vaccine doses have now been administered to residents in Lambton County.  The health unit said that represents 71 per cent of adults and 17 per cent of youth who've received at least one dose.

Valerie Verberg was the first local recipient to get her shot when the rollout began in January.
