The Canadian Cancer Society of Sarnia-Lambton is hoping to raise $58,000 during this weekend's Relay For Life ceremony.
The 20th annual fundraiser is being held virtually once again due to COVID-19. So far, 19 teams have registered, and have already brought in over $48,000.
Signature Events Specialist Paula McKinlay said the local hour-long event is being held on Friday night, starting at 7 p.m.
"Some of it is live on Zoom, and some of it is pre-recorded," said McKinlay. "We're going to start off with our fantastic fitness guru Brian. We've got our survivor victory lap, we've got trivia, the team captains have chosen a theme which has to do with the number 20, and of course we have our beautiful luminary ceremony. We have a special guest named Griffin, who will be on the bagpipes playing Amazing Grace."
McKinlay said Friday night caps off with the grand total announcement and award winners.
The national ceremony is being held on Saturday night at 8 p.m. Both can be viewed by going to the local Relay For Life Facebook page.

It's estimated that nearly one in two Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
