New COVID cases continue downward trend in SL

It's another relatively good day for Sarnia-Lambton's new COVID figures.

Lambton Public Health reported five new cases and four more resolved cases Monday morning, bringing the active case count to 37.

Since May 23, there have been 77 new infections reported locally.  Just once during the period have new daily infections been above nine.

The rate of infection per 100,000 was at 24 for the week of May 23 to 29, down from a peak of 160 the week of March 14 to 20.

Since March 2020, there have been 3,528 confirmed cases, 3,430 resolved cases and 61 COVID-related deaths in Sarnia-Lambton.

Bluewater Health is reporting five COVID-positive patients in hospital.

On Monday, Lambton Public Health also announced that vaccine eligibility for second dose appointments has expanded to those 70 years of age and older.
