Air quality statement issued for Sarnia-Lambton

Another hot and humid day has prompted Environment Canada to issue a special air quality statement for Sarnia-Lambton.

Higher levels of air pollution are expected throughout the day and into this evening.

The national weather agency said the hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increased levels of ground ozone, deteriorating air quality.

Those with asthma, COPD, children and seniors are especially at risk.

The agency suggests that anyone experiencing symptoms like coughing, throat irritation, shortness of breath or headaches, consider reducing or rescheduling strenuous outdoor activities until the air quality statement is lifted.
