Sarnia building permits so far in 2021 encouraging

Sarnia's construction activity in terms of dollar value is nearly double what it was through the first two months of 2020.

City hall issued 26 building permits totalling $3.4 million in February bringing the two-month total to about $14.4 million compared to $7.5 million last year.

The largest permit in February was $1,090,000 for a building at Imperial on Christina Street South.

There were five permits in February for single family homes on top of the 16 issued in January. The year-to-date total of 21 is three times better than the 2020 total.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
