COVID-19 outbreak declared at Lambton Meadowview Villa

A staff member at Lambton Meadowview Villa in Petrolia has tested positive for COVID-19, leading the Lambton Public Health Unit to declare an outbreak there.

According to a statement released by the home Sunday, people living in the long-term care home and their families were notified of the positive case today.

The employee in question is not direct care staff, and has not been at the home since they began experiencing symptoms. All residents in the Robin Way community of the home are being tested today. Staff at the home continue to be routinely tested.

Lambton Public Health will trace the employee's close contacts and connect with those individuals for guidance.

The home is working closely with Lambton Public Health and said it is diligently following all COVID-19 policies and protocols.

"Our priority is the continued care and well-being of the people who live at Lambton Meadowview Villa, along with their families and our staff," said General Manager of Long-Term Care Division Jane Joris in the statement. "We are actively working with Lambton Public Health and following the guidance provided to us."

Lambton Meadowview Villa is home to 125 people, and employs almost 200 staff members in a range of occupations.
