Sarnia-Lambton's COVID-19 caseload continued to trend higher Saturday with another 21 new confirmed cases being reported.
The total number of cases since the pandemic began nearly a year ago moved past the 2,200 mark to 2,208.
Lambton Public Health said there were nine more recoveries for a total of 2,028, pushing active cases up by 12 to 134. The death toll has remained unchanged at 46 since February 17.
Active institutional and workplace outbreaks dropped by one to five, and Bluewater Health still had three positive patients in hospital.
There have been 92 new confirmed cases over the past three days due in part to a rapid outbreak being reported at Kettle and Stony Point First Nation. Chief Jason Henry said Friday that there were 34 active cases in the community.
Students at two Walpole Island elementary schools have been dismissed and will learn from home next week, as a precaution, after a student tested positive for the virus.
