Impaired driving charge laid after vehicle runs red

A Sarnia man is without a vehicle for the time being after allegedly driving while impaired Saturday night.

City police were notified by Lambton OPP of a vehicle travelling along Confederation Line into Sarnia just after 10 p.m.

An officer on patrol spotted the vehicle a short time later travelling west on Confederation. Police said it was stopped after running a red light at Finch Drive and the driver was arrested.

They said breath samples taken at police headquarters indicated the 23-year-old was over twice the legal limit.

The man was charged with impaired driving, and having a blood alcohol concentration of 80-plus. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for a week.
